Hat Anatomy:

Before making a hat, it seems a good idea to learn about the components of a hat. Most hats are made of 3 basic parts

1. The brim - the lower edge of a hat

2. The stock - the sides of a hat

3. The tip - the very top of the hat

Note:
In some cases, the tip and the stock may be connected during formation using a hat block. When a hat has a rounded tip, it is usually connected to the stock in this way. When the tip is flat, it is usually a separate piece from the stock.
